From pre-Roman times to the present day, the area occupied by the town and its surroundings has been a place of intense activity whose cultural, ethnographic and natural legacy we can enjoy today. For this reason, we invite you to join us to discover the five must-see places in Caldas de Reis that you cannot miss:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fountain of \"As Burgas\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

The thermal waters are the seed and soul of the town. Springs emanate from the earth whose curative properties have marked from the toponymy to the subsequent development of Caldas de Reis.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Of all these fountains, surely the most popular for all Caldenses is the \"As Burgas\" fountain. Built at the end of the 19th century, it is located in the town centre, very close to the banks of the river Umia, and its two spouts decorated with lion's heads are one of its most characteristic features.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Roman and medieval bridges\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

The traces left by the past in the environment are perfectly recognisable and, in many cases, have been of great use to the lives of its inhabitants. A perfect example of these are the Roman and medieval bridges that have become a cultural heritage of great value while still fulfilling their original purpose. Two of these bridges stand out:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Berma\u00f1a Bridge: <\/b>This pass over the river Berma\u00f1a, in the centre of Caldas de Reis, was built in the 1st century and formed part of the XIXth road that connected the three great cities of Gallaecia: Bracara Augusta (Braga), Lucus Augusti (Lugo) and Asturica Augusta (Astorga). The Portuguese Way of the Pilgrims' Route to Santiago de Compostela runs along its three semicircular arches.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Segade Bridge: <\/b>The A Baxe pass is located just two kilometres from the town. It is a reconstruction carried out in 1729 by the parish priest of San Andr\u00e9s de Cesar on a bridge of Roman origin. Its location, in the heart of the Conxunto Natural de Segade, makes it one of the most charming bridges on the Portuguese Way.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Botanical Garden Park and Carballeira\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

    The Umia river is the backbone of life in Caldas and many of its most interesting spots are concentrated on its banks.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Undoubtedly, two of the most enjoyed by the locals are the Botanical Garden Park and the Carballeira. Undoubtedly, one of the most spectacular is the Fervenza de Segade, a waterfall that can be reached via the circular route. <\/span>\"<\/b>PRG-59 \"Ruta del Agua\", which starts from the<\/span> Botanical Garden-Park and the Carballeira. Along its 6.67 kilometres we will be able to admire the<\/span> beauty of buildings such as the old F\u00e1brica de Luz, the water mills or the Puente de<\/span> Segade. The course of the water gives us the gift of formations such as the pools, which we can enjoy with a<\/span> summer dip, but above all, the great attraction of this path: the spectacular fall of the<\/span> 30 metres high that forms this waterfall of singular beauty.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    R\u00faa Real<\/b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

    The crossroads of roads that gave birth to Caldas de Reis has its own central artery: the r\u00faa<\/span> Royal. This street has witnessed the development of a town that grew around it.<\/span> Proof of this are some of its most unique buildings, such as the manor houses<\/span> emblazoned and porticoed that populate its layout.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
